The New Findhorn Association was created in 1999 to bring together the diverse organisations and people associated with the community within a 50 mile radius. The association has an elected voluntary Council, but control of all aspects of the Associationís affairs ultimately lies with the membership through various democratic processes. The Association employs two Listener Conveners whose job is to take the pulse of the community, welcome new members, support organisations and businesses, empower grassroots members to take new initiatives and facilitate communication across the community.
There are currently 360 individual members and 32 organisation members of the NFA. Each year the voluntary council and the two Listener Conveners are elected by the membership of the NFA, who organise monthly community meetings to decide upon community-wide issues.
